Liver cancer: new developments to detect
New research has developed a test to detect liver cancer at an early stage.
This test raises the current method.
The investigations were conducted by researchers at the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology in Ghent (Belgium) and Ghent University. Colabortado also have several research centers of China.
With just a small sample of blood, can detect liver cancer in more than 50 percent of cases where previous diagnoses have not been able to provide a clear answer.
The test would allow frequent and non-invasive analysis in patients with cirrhosis that would detect cancer at early stages and monitor the development of the disease.
The charge of the investigation, examined the concentrations in Chinese patients with cirrhosis of the liver due to infection by the hepatitis B virus and found that the amounts of two groups of sugars, which appeared in the blood proteins, varied according the stage of the disease.
