Mistletoe for Cancer Treatment (I)
The Druids considered the mistletoe as a magical plant… and they were probably right. The U.S. National Cancer Institute, for example, admits that this is a plant of great interest in cancer treatment as it not only causes death by apoptosis in cancer cells but also stimulates the immune system. A faculty that is blamed on two of its components: vixcotoxinas and lectins.
And that explains why in some European countries already-used as monotherapy or as adjunct-to treat cancer and/or to decrease the side effects of chemotherapy. Over 30 clinical studies endorse their properties.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy or radiotherapy is achieved by damaging or destroying cancer cells through intensive treatment of X-rays. Although not a cure for mesothelioma, radiation may be used at various stages of treatment of malignant mesothelioma. Often, radiation is the main treatment for patients with health problems. Radiation can also be used to eliminate small formations of cancer cells that surgery might overlook. When radiation is used in conjunction with surgery, radiation is known as adjuvant. The transplantation of peripheral blood, as effective as spinal
The haematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been consolidated in recent years as a good alternative to traditional bone marrow transplantation. This method allows cells in the bloodstream of a compatible donor, able to repopulate the bone marrow of a patient with leukemia, more simply and without anesthesia. A study published in the journal ‘The Lancet’ after 10 years of follow clarifies some of the doubts that still could be on its use.
For hematopoietic progenitors (blood stem cells able to repopulate the marrow) ‘enough’ to refer to the donor pretreatment to multiply the presence of these units in their blood and then extracting and implanting them in a patient with leukemia or other haematological malignancies.
